In 2010, Alanna Kennedy started playing soccer. Prior to going to Newcastle Jets at the start of the 2011–12 season, she played for Sydney FC in the W-League during the 2010–11 season, appearing in just 3 games. She rejoined Sydney FC for the 2012–13 season.
She made the decision to transfer to city rivals Western Sydney Wanderers for a full season the following year. In the 2014–15 campaign, she joined Perth Glory. She then signed a contract with NWSL team Western New York Flash in 2016, played in 17 games for the team, and helped the team win the 2016 NWSL championship in 2015. In 2015, she returned to her former club Sydney FC, where she lasted for two seasons.
Alanna Kennedy played in every match for the Orlando Pride in 2017 and scored the lone winning goal in the team’s final match of the season after being traded for midfielder Sam Witteman in January of that year.

Kennedy broke the record for being the second-youngest player on the country’s 23-player list for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World as a result of her commitment to her national team, which earned her another summons to serve on the international stage in 2015.
